   Spray soapy water on plants that have been affected with green fly.

   Put loose tea around rose bushes it produces a better spread and stops insect attacks.

   Don't let the weeds get out of control is my number one tip. If you pull them out regularly instead of waiting until they take over, the garden always looks nice and it's a lot less work. Simple tip but effective.

    the best tip is start with the best soil you can manage….. prepare the garden bed or the lawn bed or the veggie beds with compost, manure, soil conditioner, extra anything it needs (as told by soil test!!)…… you have to do this first, cuz it's darned hard to do once the plants are in the ground and you suddenly realize they're not happy…..

    When I moved into my new home 6 years ago, I got rid of all lawns and conventional "beds". I now have a fantastic garden, very low maintenance, it consists of decking, patios, and lots of bark laid on a membrane that discourages weeds, in it are planted lots of unusual perennials and shrubs and as I live near the sea, my garden reflects this with stones, pebbles and driftwood, and the odd maritime bits and pieces, a ships wheel, buoys and lots of seashells.
    So, little weeding for me, I just sit on the deck with Mrs GB and drink Gin and tonic! Bliss!

    Yes. Find a friendly local farmer and agree to have his sheep come around and eat your excess grass every week. This means no work for you, the sheep are well fed and as you're not using any machinery it has to be good for the environment!
