What are some good gardening tips and Ideas?

Start small. An inexperienced gardener who puts in a huge garden will get overwhelmed, and possibly stop gardening altogether because they get so frustrated.
Try one or two things at a time, and gain experience.
Talk to neighbors who garden.
Look around - see what grows in your area.

Like the other person said start small. Do not over do it the first year. You can plant things like Daylilies, hostas and Liroipe. These 3 plants need very little care and in zone 6 (my zone) have done very well. With little to no care.
Or you can grow some annuals in containers like Impatiens, and petunias. Good luck!

Hi!
Start with few and easy plants using soil as substrate, it's the most stable and easy to use. On Hydroponics website you can find a lot of tips and tools about soil growing, flooding, nutrients, light and much more.
Good luck!

Vegie gardening? Most all vegies want full sun. Many can be grown in containers or using the 'square foot' method. (If Error 999 will cooperate I'll add links.) http://search.yahoo.com/search.....8;ei=UTF-8
Flower gardening? Wild flower mixes are fun and easy, need full sun, will grow almost anywhere. Other types of flower choices will depend on your zone.
Landscape gardening? Think I'll hire a high school kid to tackle this chore.
Tips:
Newspaper works better than weed barrier type cloths.
Rocks as mulch are knuckle biting beasts - I prefer wood mulch.
Grow what you think is beautiful.
Experiment by taking cuttings, many will root in clear containers of water.
Invoke the G. O. D. principle = Grow Or Die
Sometimes neglect is the best medicine for an ailing plant. (I've "loved" plants to death in the past. *sniff*)
have fun.
